Danny Snell

Danny Snell grew up in Adelaide and studied at the Adelaide Central School of Art, and the University of South Australia, graduating with a bachlor of Design (Illustration) in 1992.

Danny has been working as a freelance illustrator for nearly 20 years and in that time has illustrated over a dozen children’s picture books. Working mainly in acrylics and with a focus on simple compositions, he brings a gentle whimsy to his book characters and settings.

Danny has won a number of awards for his books including the 2014 CBCA Eve Pownall Award for Information Books, for ‘Jeremy’, and more recently the 2016 Wilderness Society Environment Award for Children’s Literature – Picture Fiction, for ‘Seagull’, which he wrote and illustrated.
